1. The service

Showmates ("the app") lets you track TV shows, anime and movies, share what you watch with friends and play quizzes and challenges. The app doesn't stream or host any video. It is run by Andrea Caselli, Italy ([email protected]).

By using the app you accept these terms and the privacy policy.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 16 years old.
• One account per person, with an email address that belongs to you.
• You are responsible for your password and for what happens with your account. If you think someone is using it without permission, change your password and contact us.
• Your username must not impersonate other people, brands or the Showmates staff, and must not be offensive.

3. Content you post

Your username, photo, bio, reviews, challenge messages, pact notes and tournament names remain yours. You give us a free, non-exclusive licence to show them in the app to other users, according to your privacy settings, only to run the service. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for what you post and you confirm you have the right to post it.

4. Community rules: zero tolerance

None of the following is allowed anywhere in the app:

• hate or discrimination (based on origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or anything else);
• harassment, bullying, threats or intimidation;
• sexual content or nudity, and any sexual content involving minors;
• graphic violence, incitement to violence or self-harm;
• spam, advertising, misleading links or scams;
• spoilers without a warning in reviews and messages;
• impersonating another person;
• sharing other people's personal data without their consent;
• illegal content or content that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights.

5. Reports, blocking and moderation

• You can report a profile or a piece of content and block a user directly in the app.
• We review reports as soon as possible, normally within 24 hours.
• If content breaks these rules we remove it. Depending on how serious it is we may also reset the profile or suspend the account, without notice in serious or repeated cases.

6. Content generated by the app and third-party data

• The recap and some quiz questions are written by artificial intelligence from public texts. They may contain mistakes: flag them with 👎. With "🚩 Offensive" the content is hidden right away and reviewed.
• Show and movie data and images come from The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Episode summaries come from TVmaze and movie plots from Wikipedia, both licensed CC BY-SA. Information about where to watch a title comes from JustWatch.
• Titles, images and trademarks belong to their owners. Showmates is not affiliated with the streaming services it mentions.
• The spoiler shield helps hide spoilers but cannot guarantee to catch them all.

7. Fair use

You may not tamper with the app or the servers, use modified apps or automation to play or collect data, get around usage limits or security measures, or create accounts in bulk. Scores obtained unfairly may be cancelled.

8. The service as is

Showmates is free and provided "as is". We do our best to keep it working well, but we can't guarantee it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, suspend or discontinue features or the whole service; if we shut the service down we'll tell you in advance when possible, so you can export your data.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damages arising from the use of the app or for content posted by other users. The rights the law grants to consumers, and any liability that cannot be excluded, always remain unaffected.

10. Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time from your Profile ("Delete account and data") or as explained on this page. We may close or suspend an account that breaks these terms.

11. Changes to the terms

If we change these terms we update the version at the top. If the changes are significant, the app will ask you to accept them again before you continue.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you can bring a dispute before the courts of the place where you live, and you keep the protections of the law of your country of residence.
